About Scolia Darts

Scolia is an innovative automatic scorekeeping solution for steel-tip darts. Besides scorekeeping, Scolia registers the location of each throw with millimeter accuracy in order to provide coordinate-based statistics to the players.
Scolia uses a sophisticated image processing algorithm to identify the locations of the thrown darts real time. The system consists of a set of cameras and a processing unit. The cameras are connected to the processing unit by USB cables. Whenever a dart hits the board, the processing unit calculates the position of the dart along with its corresponding score.
The main functionalities of the Scolia App are: Local Games: Play with your friends or practice by yourself. Currently, Scolia offers the following games: X01, Cricket, Random/Hidden Cricket, Around the Clock, Bob’s 27, Shanghai, Power Scoring, Checkout Streak, and 121. You can also play against computer bots of various strengths or a personalized bot matching your average. Online Games: In the Scolia Lobby, it’s easy to find an available opponent and play an online match. Tournaments: Regular tournaments are held at least every hour for all average groups. Alternatively, you can organize your own customized tournament and invite players yourself. Statistics: You can immediately see the stats of a game you finished, including your and your opponent’s heatmaps. To take a closer look at your improvement, you can also check your timeline analysis, recent form, horizontal or vertical error of your throws where applicable, best legs and other highlights. Friends: Add your friends to your friend list and see when they are online. Regular updates: The Scolia App is updated regularly with new features based on user feedback. Scolia Community: By joining our official Facebook group, the Scolia Community, you can connect with fellow Scolia users. In addition to the main group, there are also an increasing number of regional communities.
There are many variables that affect the accuracy of the system. It is much harder for the system to identify tightly grouped darts the very skilled players tend to throw. Nevertheless, in case of competitive players, Scolia can consistently achieve accuracy rates well above 99%, while for recreational players this figure can easily go as high as 99.9%.
The name Scolia stands for the three main functionalities the system provides: scorekeeping, lighting, analytics.

No, you can use your regular dartboard and darts set with Scolia. Scolia is compatible with the products of all the major dartboard manufacturers. Note that the image processing algorithm expects the dartboard to have standard dimensions, traditional colouring and to be equipped with the traditional metal number ring. It is recommended to avoid using dark-coloured barrels, shafts and flights for better accuracy.
